A Coastguard team found a suspected WWI-era smoke bomb wedged between two rocks on Porthtowan Beach in Cornwall. The area of the beach surrounding the device was evacuated as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called in.
The EOD team decided to destroy the device in a controlled explosion. It is believed to have washed up on the tide the previous evening.
