WWII Incendiary Bomb Found at Kent School

A primary school in Crockenhill near Swanley, Kent was evacuated after the discovery of a World War Two (WWII) incendiary bomb.  The bomb was discovered during excavation works in the school playground.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended and removed the device.

Incendiary bombs were dropped in vast numbers by the Luftwaffe during WWII.  They were designed to both cause fire damage (rather than blast) and to light up target areas prior to dropping the more destructive High Explosive (HE) bombs.
