WWII Incendiary Bomb Found at Property Near Bristol

A WWII Incendiary Bomb (IB) has been found at a property in Pensford near Bristol. The device was found during fencing works and was removed by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

IBs were dropped in huge quantities by the Luftwaffe during WWII, with Bristol a particular target.  Their purpose was to start large conflagrations amongst commercial and industrial premises, with the resulting fires lighting the path for subsequent aircraft to drop their heavier High Explosive (HE) bombs on the target area.
