WWII Mortar Found Near Houses in Bradford

A controlled explosion was carried out on a suspected WWII mortar found in a residential area of Bradford.  An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the scene on Livingstone Road and undertook an X-ray of the device to ensure that it was safe to move.

The mortar was subsequently taken to nearby scrubland where it was safely detonated, leaving a nice crater as a reminder of the incident (see inset).
