A ‘large quantity’ of WWII mortars has been disposed of at Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The devices were found to the north of the former Royal Air Force (RAF) Woodhall Spa airfield, used by Bomber Command at the end of WWII and subsequently by No. 92 Maintenance Unit (MU) for the storage of unused bombs.
The mortars were assessed to be inert and have been dealt with safely.
