WWII Ordnance Find Shuts Wood Lane Tube Station

A suspected World War Two (WWII) bomb was found on a building site near Wood Lane tube station in White City. The discovery prompted an evacuation of the station at rush hour, sparking imagined chaos.

A security cordon was put in place around the site as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended.  The cordon was soon lifted, suggesting that the device was either not ordnance or a smaller ordnance item such as a shell.
