WWII Shell Causes Evacuation in Plaistow

Residents were evacuated from a street in Plaistow, East London yesterday afternoon after a suspected WWII shell was found on Grange Road.  The Police erected a safety cordon for a couple of hours before an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team came to remove the device.

Both British and German ordnance is still regularly encountered in East London, with last year’s discovery of a 25okg Unexploded Bomb (UXB) at Bermondsey the most dramatic of recent times.
