250kg German Bomb Found in Great Yarmouth

A 250kg Unexploded Bomb (UXB) dredged from the River Yare in Great Yarmouth detonated during the rendering safe process by a military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

Great Yarmouth was heavily-bombed by the Luftwaffe during WWII and the discovery of the UXB prompted Police to put in place a 400m exclusion zone. This was maintained over a period of three days as the EOD team put in place blast mitigation prior to attempts to render the bomb safe.

Fortunately, there were no injuries from the inadvertent detonation and exclusion zones were subsequently lifted.
