250kg Unexploded Bomb Safely Destroyed Off Guernsey

A Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team rendered safe a suspected 250kg German bomb found by a recreational diver off the coast of Guernsey.

Boats were prohibited from entering the area whilst the Navy EOD divers prepared to destroy the UXB in a controlled explosion.

Guernsey was occupied by German forces during World War Two, like the rest of the Channel Islands, and ordnance relating to their invasion and occupation is still routinely found in the area.
