A Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team undertook a controlled explosion after a 500kg German Unexploded Bomb (UXB) was brought aboard a fishing vessel in the Solent, off the Isle of Wight.
The EOD team returned the large bomb to the water, towing it to a safe location where it could be detonated in situ.
UXO is still regularly encountered by fishing crews in waters around the UK, although the discovery of large air-dropped UXBs is a less common phenomenon.
