Artillery Shell Found on Cumbrian Beach

A suspected 105mm artillery shell was made safe by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team after being found washed up on the beach at St Bees near Whitehaven in Cumbria.

The Coastguard put in place a security cordon on the beach, which is popular with the public, prior to the EOD team’s attendance.  The shell was then destroyed in a controlled explosion.
