Controlled Explosion for Artillery Shell Fuzes Found Near Wigan
A controlled explosion was carried out after a Wigan resident reported the find of 2No. artillery shell fuzes. The resident had found the fuzes whilst metal detecting on Rivington Pike earlier in the year. After becoming concerned about their contents, he called the Police.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called out and they removed the fuzes to a nearby country park where they destroyed them in a controlled explosion.
