Controlled Explosion for Hand Grenade Found in the River Trent

A controlled explosion was carried out after a hand grenade was pulled out of the River Trent by a magnet fisherman. The ‘Mills Bomb’ was discovered near Wilford Toll Bridge, the second ordnance-related find in the area in the past month, after an artillery shell was found in early June.

After Police were informed of this latest discovery, an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was called out. They removed the grenade to a nearby field where it was safely destroyed.
