Controlled Explosion for Mortar Found on County Down Beach

A controlled explosion was carried out after a World War Two (WWII) mortar was found on the beach at Murlough, County Down in Northern Ireland.

The Coastguard was alerted to the find and put in place a security cordon as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended.  The EOD team rendered the item safe in situ.
