Controlled Explosion for ‘Wartime Devices’ Found in Hertfordshire Wood

Two ‘wartime devices’ found in woodland in Hertfordshire over the Christmas period were destroyed in a controlled explosion.

The devices – exact types unspecified – were discovered in Twiney Wood near Standon, resulting in Police calling out an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to render them safe.

Records indicate that an American Marauder aircraft crashed near the wood in August 1944.
