Reported ‘Unexploded Shell’ Discovered on the South Downs

Sussex Police were called to a report on Saturday 20th April of a suspected ‘unexploded shell’ being discovered by walkers on the South Downs Way in East Sussex – close to Balmer Farm, near Lewes.  An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team attended the scene and the device was destroyed in a  controlled explosion. The exact nature of the device has yet to be confirmed.
