Reported WWII Artillery Shell Discovered in Leicestershire

Police were alerted by a group of metal detectorists on 04/02/2024 to the discovery of a reported ‘WWII Artillery Shell’ in a field near Lutterworth, in Leicestershire. The device was destroyed in a controlled explosion by an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.

Update (07/02/2024): The Ministry of Defence (MoD) have confirmed the device in Lutterworth to be a 1kg German Incendiary Bomb (IB).
