A walker in Snowdonia informed Police after coming across suspected Unexploded Ordnance (UXO). The Police passed on a photo of the device to an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
The EOD team identified the item as a 2″ smoke mortar, which was able to be removed without their attendance.
Large parts of Snowdonia were used for military training during World War Two (WWII) and UXO-related finds are still common.
