Unexploded Shell Found in Essex Loft Destroyed in Controlled Explosion

A resident had a nasty surprise after an old shell they found in their loft turned out to be live.  The projectile was discovered at a house in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.

After realising the potential significance of the find, the resident called the Police who soon mobilised an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.  The EOD team identified that the shell could still be viable and transported it to Clacton Beach where it was destroyed in a controlled explosion.
